Inaugural MullenLowe NOVA Award Winner, Designer and Animator

Isak Åkerlund

Isak is a freelance designer and animator based in Stockholm, Sweden. His work includes product design, graphic design, illustration, art direction and animation. In 2011, Isak became the first ever recipient of a MullenLowe NOVA Award for his animation ‘The Art of Darkness’.

Isak was a lead designer for the classic Swedish toy brand BRIO and played a key role in shaping the company’s contemporary design style over a ten-year creative collaboration.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Design from the Academy of Art and Design in Gothenburg, Sweden, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Character Animation at Central Saint Martins.

In response to joining the judging panel this year and celebrating 10 years of ‘Fresh Creative Talent’, Isak adds: “I feel privileged and delighted to have been invited to be part of the judging panel for this year’s MullenLowe NOVA Awards. It will be a true pleasure to see all the great work and ideas created by talented students form all different disciplines at Central Saint Martins”.
